Cancer Registry Annual File

Provides annual reports from 1979 to the latest published year for cancer cases after householding, including in situ and invasive cases of all cancers. The data includes both long-form and short-form hospital claims and has removed duplicate cases within the same case for the same type of cancer and tissue type group.

1. This center's database has been de-identified: directly identifying fields such as name and address have been removed, and fields such as ID number, facility code, insured unit code, tax ID number, date of birth, visit date, and admission date have been masked. The data may only be used within the independent workspace established by the Ministry, and only approved aggregate statistical results may be taken out, ensuring that the data and its disclosure method can no longer identify specific individuals. 2. To distinguish in-situ carcinoma from invasive carcinoma cases, use the histology behavior code (5th digit of the HISTOLOG field). 3. The date-of-death and cause-of-death fields reflect the data as reported by the hospital at the time; if the case subsequently dies, these fields are not updated, so this field's data is not provided in order to avoid misinterpretation. If needed, please link directly to the Cause of Death Statistics File (Health-10). 4. Hematologic malignancy cases such as NHL (non-Hodgkin's lymphoma), HL (Hodgkin's lymphoma), and LEU (leukemia) must be distinguished using the histopathology field (HISTBEH). When analyzing by cancer site (CASITE field), first exclude NHL, HL, LEU, and other hematologic malignancies before calculating. 5. A histopathology (HISTOLOG field) value of 99903 applies only to codes used in 2001 (ROC year 90) or earlier, meaning clinically malignant tumors not confirmed by microscopic examination. 6. Grade/differentiation data (GRADE field) has only been collected for newly diagnosed cancer cases from 2002 onward. In addition, starting in 2018, codes A/B/C/D/E/H/L/M/S/X were added (see the 2018/ROC year 107 edition Cancer Registry Abstracting Manual, short-form field 45 and long-form field 115, for details). 7. The treatment status field (CURECOND) has been consolidated across all reporting hospitals for a case. For detailed treatment data collected from 2007 onward, see the separate long-form and short-form treatment fields. 1. The ID number (IDNO) is encrypted. 2.
