Children and Youth Living Conditions Survey 2018

1. Survey purpose: to collect data on the living and health conditions, childcare and parenting issues, and needs, use, and expectations regarding welfare measures of children aged 0 to under 6. 2. Survey items: child's basic information, family status, parents' status, childcare arrangements, physical condition and diet, play and recreational activities, and needs regarding child welfare policy, among others. 3. Survey area: the Taiwan-Fukien Area. 4. Survey subjects: children aged 0 to under 6 residing within the survey area. 5. Survey method: interviewers visit the respondent's residence to conduct face-to-face interviews, answered by the child's parents, adoptive parents, or primary caregiver. 6. Sampling method: stratified two-stage random sampling. The country was divided into 11 sub-populations by the six special municipalities and the northern, central, southern, eastern, and Kinmen-Matsu regions. Townships/districts within each sub-population were stratified with reference to the "2021 National Health Interview Survey Sampling Design," using cluster analysis to classify the country's 368 townships/districts into 7 types, which served as the stratification basis for sampling within each sub-population. In the first stage, townships/districts within each stratum were ordered by population size, and sample townships/districts were drawn via systematic random sampling based on cumulative township/district population. In the second stage, four strata were formed by sex and age group (0-under 3, 3-under 6); the number of samples to be completed in each stratum was allocated in proportion to that stratum's share of the region, and within each stratum, sample households were drawn via systematic random sampling after ordering by address.
